Pilgrim Festival 2022

We are excited to announce that this year the Franciscan Gardens and Eastbridge Hospital will be taking part in the Kent Pilgrims Festival, from Saturday 24th to Sunday 25th 2022.

We will be offering visitors guided tours and the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Medieval Pilgrims.

Come and experience the tranquillity of our historic gardens which have been in use for over 800 years, as well as the chapel which holds weekly Franciscan service. In Eastbridge you can see where medieval pilgrims slept, ate and prayed in the last leg of their journey before moving on to the shrine of St Thomas Becket in the cathedral. Immerse yourself fully in the history of these sites and see how the decline of the pilgrim trade and the dissolution of the monasteries had an impact on their trajectory and purpose.

Tickets will be available at £4 so come along and take part in local history by visiting one of Canterbury’s oldest and most historic sites.
